Wedding in Varkiza for Aggeliki & Lefteris
Oh, don’t worry, my knowledge of physics extends only to the basics. As a wedding photographer, however, the search for atmosphere, the aura of the couple and the space that I’m going to photograph are my primary concern. A wedding photo is not made beautiful by the right geometry in the objects or professional lighting. A photograph that will remain alive over time must first and foremost reflect the atmosphere of the wedding day. The fact is that the guide in this process is the couple itself, with the aura that fills their respective family homes with smiles as the bride and groom get ready, moving around relaxed and comfortable in the space they know better than any other, but which they are now preparing to leave. All this and much more is what the lens is looking for so that you can relive your wedding year after year.
The Wedding in Varkiza of Athens and the Party at Amaltheia Estate
I was inspired to write this by the wedding of Angeliki and Lefteris, which took place in August 2015 at the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Church. They are a modern couple that allowed their character to express itself openly, both with us and with their guests. The dominant Burgundy red with the gold highlights in the room where the bride was dressing provided the perfect retro backdrop to her face, hairstyling and wedding gown. In the groom’s room, the coming and going of friends parading through the more minimal space accented the strength that emanates from the camaraderie of men. The decorated “lady” awaiting the bride enhanced the nostalgic atmosphere as the graceful Church of the Dormition to fill the frame.
The reception that followed at the Amaltheia Estate in Varkiza was marked by a more relaxed atmosphere, highlighted by joyous and spirited moments. The presence of the grandmother, dressed in traditional clothing, brought with it blessings from past generations and their roots. My favourite wedding photos comes next
