aeginaphotographer_greek_flagGreek National Opera established on 1939. Today is one of the most important and steady artistic development companies in Greece.
During the past decade, in response to current demands, the Greek National Opera has developed a Children’s Stage to develop future friends of opera. It also encourages modern works by commissioning new operas to contemporary composers. In this way the repertory of the Greek National Opera covers four centuries of opera from Monteverdi to contemporary Greek composers with at least twenty productions every season. The company generously supported works by Greek composers, and summer productions were staged at the Herodes Atticus Odeon as well as at the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus starring Maria Callas. Performances are held at the Olympia Theatre (which includes the Children’s Stage), the Athens Concert Hall and the open-air Odeon of Herodes Atticus.

K magazine of Kathimerini News makes a tribute to Greek National Opera Company for the last years creative progress.

The Greek National Opera photoshoot

The object of the photoshoot was to record all the process before every performance. Started from the settings and costumes making of, the backstage preparation to the third bell rang, the curtain opening and the players of the Christmas of 2013 performances. It was a significant experience for me in personal level and as a photographer to record all this interesting process and preparation of each performance of the Greek National Opera and the workers . The eight page contribute of K magazine of Kathimerini News was written by Tasoula Eptakili and published on 07 December 2013
